Lost Coast Trail

King Range

Mendocino County

California

15.8.2001 - 12:30

with the help of Donald Edwards

Our maps did not correspond with reality. We tried to reach the site from the South, which proved impossible. We turned around, lost a day and a car wheel, and reached Shelter Grove on the Pacific at night. The next morning, we explored the ground and found that from Donald’s house the site was only a little over a kilometer away. However, we would have had to cross a Canyon and walk through a thicket so that we decided to turn around and try to reach our goal on Lost Coal Trail instead.

This proved to be a good choice because the site was located exactly on this trail. It would have been impossible to penetrate the thicket on both sides of the path.
