One of the most holy places in this world is Mt. Kailash, source of the four great Asian rivers. It is holy because for thousands of years it has been worshipped by great Asian religions, from the Hindus to the ancient Bon religion of Tibet. Twenty-five hundred years ago, Buddha Shakyamuni went to Mt. Kailash, thus establishing it as a sacred place in the Buddhist tradition as well. From the point of view of Tibetan Buddhism, Mt. Kailash is considered to be the emanation body of Chakrasamvara. It always was traditional for Buddhist yogis to be sent to this holy place to practice. In the 11th century, the founder of the Drikung Kagyud tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, Gyalwa Jigten Sumgon, sent Master Guyak Gangpa and thousands of yogis and meditators to Mt. Kailash to practice and this tradition continues with us to the present day.

I am very happy that Mr. Ekkeland Goetze has collected precious soil from all of the twelve holy places of pilgrimage in the area in such a professional way. In the Buddhist tradition it is considered very important to collect soil, stones and water in this way to be put in vases and placed underground with special rituals to bring renewal to the environment. This tradition of renewal and purification is, I think, especially important at the present time when such things are badly needed. I pray that Mr. Goetze's global work will be successful and that it will bring benefit to many beings.
