Earth Art Work-Nº 453

Desert

Dugway Valley

Great Salt Lake Desert

Utah

1.8.2001 - 11:00

The site is situated in the southern part of the Great Salt Lake Desert, not far from the historical Pony-Express Route crossing the desert. We left early in the morning, equipped with a full tank and 20 liters of water.

Part of the maps located the site inside, part outside of the military ground closed for public that covers a large part of the desert.

When we reached to point closest to the site, we left the car at the roadside and started to walk. After about one hour we were stopped by a fence which I did not dare to climb. Here I filled my bag with EARTH before we returned.

The day before, I had discussed the project with the guards at the gate of Dugway Proving Grounds. Peter N. Thermos promised to dig up the EARTH at the exact site and send it over.

So, there still is the chance for an "exact" terragraphic.
