Arles

Letters to van Gogh - 2010 - 2011

The 12 SOILS for this project originate from the 12 locations in and around Arles where Vincent van Gogh painted the selected 12 pictures.

Vincent van Gogh recounts his struggles with art in numerous letters to his brother Theo. The letters, which begin in 1873 and continue until van Gogh's death in 1890, are an authentic and moving testimony to the passionate life of a painter.

Vincent van Gogh lived in Arles from February 1888 to May 1889. Many of his most beautiful and famous paintings were created during this period.

The works of the ARLES project are a homage to one of the greatest artists who ever lived.
