Manyallaluk

Manyallaluk is a small Aboriginal community approximately 100 km East of Katherine. Traditionally the local Aboriginal People would have moved through this area, visiting sacred sites and holding ceremony whilst on their continuous nomadic journeys across their country.
Early permanent settlements were set up in the area by 'white fella' miners and cattlemen, who knew the area as Eva Valley (a name still used on many maps). Following the handing back the area to the traditional owners the Manyallaluk Community was established.

In 1998 Jawaluk Pty Ltd was established to develop a tourism and art to generate employment and income for the Manyallaluk Community residents. The first one-day tour was run in 1991. Through the mid 1990's, Manyallaluk won a number of tourism awards, include three national Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Tourism awards, placing in the Hall of Fame. On the 8th March 1993, the first Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Native Title summit was held at Manyallaluk.
