The Mandrone Glacier in the Adamello-Presanella group is the largest glacier in Italy, covering 78.5 ha (2013). It retreated by 243 m between 1984 and 2014, which corresponds to a shrinkage of about 8 m per year. It is an important working area for glaciologists.
