Father Kino arrived to this area with the expedition led by the Spanish Admiral Isidoro de Atondo y Antillón. His first intention was to found a mission in the bay of La Paz, which turned out to be impossible because of the conflicts between the Pericúes and Guaycura tribes. 
The second expedition reached a settlement of the Cochimíes Indians on 7th October, on the day of Saint Bruno. 
In 1685 the mission had to be abandoned, since the missionaries were no longer able to provide enough alimentation to the native population, which was at grips with grassing epidemics. Twelve years later they founded the first permanent mission in Loreto in 1697.

In 2014 a few wall ruins could be appreciated over a hill.
