Built on the shore of a brook, southern of the Cora region, the mission developed successfully under the leadership of Lorenzo Carranco. During the pericúes rebelion in 1734, Father Carranco was murdered along with two other assistants. 
The mission was abandoned and only few stones remain on reserved land, now in private hands. In 1736 the mission was rebuilt in a new location and from 1768 onwards the Franciscans took over its operation. It was closed in 1765 during the Dominican period. The resting novices were sent to the Mission de San Jose del Cabo Anuiti.

The actual missionary church was built 1950.
