Misión de Nuestra Señora del Pilar de la Paz Airapí

The Mission of Our Lady of Pilar de la Paz Airapí was founded by the Fathers Juan de ugarte, Jaime Bravo and Cemente Guillén.

During the 16th and 17th centuries the region around the actual Ciudad de la Paz suffered under the constant hostilities between the indigene population and the Spanish Conquistadores. Following waves of epidemics and a plundering during the revolt of the Pericú, the mission was abandoned in 1748. The few survivors moved to the Mission Santa Rosa de las Palmas (Todos Santos).

There are no vestiges left. A commemorative plaque in a small central street indicates its possible location. Now a days the Library of the Missionaries is located in the former premises.
